Job Title

CFO – ASIA PACIFIC REGION (APAC)

Department

Reporting to: President – APAC

Dotted Line; CFO Europe and Asia Pacific

Job Purpose:

1. Provide commercial finance support to the President APAC.

2. Manage and develop finance team based principally China ,Taiwan and Hong Kong, .

3. Provide information to support decision making and Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) to enable more effective management of the business.

4. Support growing the Regions’ sales, profitability and cash flow.

5. To drive for more efficient ways of working in the region and be an integral member of the management team

6. To ensure accurate recording and reporting of all financial transactions and safe custody of assets.

Principal Accountabilities

Key Challenges

Skills, Know how and Experience

· Deliver timely and accurate reporting in accordance with statutory guidelines and Group finance policies

· Ensure that all Company’s assets are safeguarded

· Be liaison and lead for interaction with relevant Government agencies ,tax authorities and independent audit partners

· Ensure that appropriate and adequate financial controls in accordance with Group and statutory requirements are in operation in the organisation

· As part of the regional management team, assist in the management of the business, in line with the regional strategy, to ensure a profitable, growing business.

· Be a central part of the decision making process, and with the other members of the management team drive for improvement and decisive implementation of new initiatives.

· Develop and deliver accurate budget and forecast processes to help achieve sales and profit in line with the regional requirements and strategy.

· Ensure accurate financial reporting and appropriate financial control to comply with legal, Group and Regional requirements and reporting deadlines.

· Ensure the production and provision of financial management information including KPIs to enable budgeting, forecasting, monitoring and decision-making processes within the business.

· Lead the management and development of all financial aspects of the business to ensure costs are managed and profit is optimised.

· Lead the management and development of staff to ensure current and future support to the business.

· Lead and manage the changes required and risks arising in a rapidly growing, dynamic business

· Accurate financial budgeting and forecasting.

· Accurate statutory and management reporting through robust and reliable processes and procedures.

· Controlling branches of various sizes and degrees of sophistication/development.

· Developing high performance finance team in the region.

· Developing profile of APAC finance team and building strong working relationships with other Premier Farnell functions.

· Achieving increased growth of the business on a profitable and cash generative basis.

· Provide relevant commercial finance support to President APAC and management team and ensuring appropriate support is provided to each country manager.

· Accurate financial budgeting and forecasting.

· Working within a matrix organisation where finance staff relating to some business units in the region are located in other parts of the globe

· Ensuring controls are managed on a proactive basis using internal control questionnaire and promptly resolving control points raised by internal and external auditors.

· Constant focus on improving capability, learning quickly from things that do not work

· Ensuring information to make informed decisions is readily available to those that need it

· Excellent accounting technical skills.

· Detailed knowledge of business ‘know how’ in APAC region, including experience of emerging markets (especially China)

· IT literate, especially with ERP implementation.

· Minimum of 5 years experience managing a finance function, including experience of regional/ multi site finance management in Asia Pacific region

· Negotiation and influencing skills

· Preferably experience within a multi channel marketing organisation

· Recognised professional accountancy qualification

· Proven commercial expertise.

· Proven track record of leading change

· Qualified to degree level

· Good motivator and developer of staff

· .Fluency in English

· Exposure to International Financial Reporting Standards

· Excellent communication skills including presentation and report writing
